Logo and Avatar Design: Robert Creative

Organization: My personal freelance graphic design business
Challenge: Design a fun but professional logo that communicates the concept of “design as communication”
Solution: The logo started out as the business name contained in a rectangle with rounded corners. I soon realized that it would better communicate “design as communication” by turning the rectangle into a speech bubble. I know, I know, speech bubbles are so overused in logos today, but I felt that the subtleness of this one would be just right; it would get the message across with looking cliché. A subtle reflective lighting effect was added to the bubble and letters to give it a little shine. Again, subtlety was key.
An smaller avatar of the initials ‘RC’ was created to station my social networking profiles. The same colours, speech bubble shape, and reflective lighting were used for consistency.
